Frog vs. Rocket
While at church on Sunday morning, we decided to try out the "cry" room at St. Joseph's in Spreckels. I haven't quite decided if this room for children that aren't quite ready to sit through an hour long mass is for our family or not. Although the idea of not worrying about how "loud" Chase's imaginary stories are or if his "vroom vrooming" is a bit much as he drives his truck along the pew sounds nice, I also don't want him to think that in this "children's/cry" room he doesn't have to worry about his volume or listening when the Priest is talking etc. So, we tried it, we placed boundaries: he had to use an inside voice (and he did for the most part), he had to stay next to Mommy or Daddy, and he could NOT join the other children running around as if they were at the park! Now, many of you know my Chase man - calm, quiet, and still are not adjectives we use to describe him! But, on this Sunday at church, he was all three of those things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He listened, he stayed away from the other children, and he stuck right by Mommy and Daddy as he drew pictures in his notebook that Auntie Tiff & Uncle Marc gave him at Christmas, he quietly drove his trucks under the chair, and whispered as he "read" his books while the Priest gave his homily. This Momma was SO proud of our little active, intense, excited, loud, and busy boy!!!
So with that being said, comes the story of Frog vs. Rocket! While quietly drawing in his journal, Chase asked Daddy to draw a rocket for him. Daddy started drawing a rocket and I informed that what Chase really meant was a rocket ship, like the one from "Little Einsteins", so he started over and drew a rocket ship. Well he leaned down to show Chase and without missing a beat, Chase forgot about his inside voice and said "Daddy not a frog, a rocket!!!" "That's not a rocket, that's a frog!" My church giggles set in and just couldn't stop! It was the cutest thing ever. I thought Daddy's rocket ship looked great, but to Chase it was truly a frog so he handed me the notebook and said "Mommy draw rocket!". And I did!
Now, you be the judge...frog or rocket?

Inspired and Ready to get back at it!
Inspired by a dear friend of mine, who probably doesn't even know it, I've decided to change up how I use this blog! For the first two years (almost) of Chase's life, I used it to keep a log of our monthly happenings for anyone who chose to read it, but also for myself. It seems if I can capture his childhood in as many ways as possible that it then gives me that many more ways to remember it as he grows up and grows into a young boy, an adolescent, a college student, and a grown man (hard to imagine as he dumped a pail of water in my kitchen yesterday)! ;)
So with that being said, I was finding it hard to squeeze in the time to upload oodles of pictures from each month, add captions, wait for them to upload, etc. My plan is to now use this blog as a little glimpse into our lives here in the ABC household. Funny things Chase says, revelations as a Momma, wonderful memories shared, and who knows what else!
If you are following my blog, let me know what you think of the change. Either way, my goal is to document my new life as a mom, my wonderful and sometimes trying days parenting Chase, and the amazing moments shared withing our family of three!

As you can imagine he had all the attention one could want and did quite well being the star of the show! He LOVED the fireworks, had a blast splashing in the lake, and enjoyed his new toys that his grandparents got him! Thanks Nana & Papa for a great weekend at the cabin! xo, A, B, & C

Chase's First Hair Cut
Well, Daddy decided (and Mommy sadly went along with it) that it was time to cut Chase's precious curls and give him a bit of a big boy haircut! I looked quite pathetic hovering over the ground picking up every little curl, but they are all in an envelope that will be safely placed in his baby book forever! Looking back, his hair was getting quite long, but oh I miss those curls! He wasn't a huge fan, but Mr. John did a great job and our handsome big boy is still as cute as ever! We love you Chase!
May Happenings...
May Highlights:
- Visits with Uncle Nate and Cinch (two of Chase's most favorite relatives)! :)
- Mother's Day celebrations for Mommy, Gramma Cheryl, and Nana!
- Salinas Valley Fair with Uncle Nate, Mommy, and Liam. Fun times!
- Children's Discovery Museum with Auntie B and Uncle Mickey
- Thing 1 and Thing 2 Birthday Party - Hannah turns 2 and Addie Lou turns 1!!!!!
We had lots of fun this month with family and friends! Chase continues to talk all the time and is definitely finding his independence in many different ways!!! :/ Love him more than anything, but if I only could bottle up his energy and keep it for a tired day!!!!
